First Moynat

Pauline Moynat, the world’s first female malletier, established Moynat in 1849. During the great era of rail travel and the establishment of the French railway network, the House soon became known for its custom-made trunks and travel accessories and registered countless patents, especially for train luggage, including the first-ever malle coffre fort, which contained a secret drawer with a patented safety lock to secure precious belongings, and the malle camphrier, made of camphor wood to protect fur coats from moth damage.

Many Moynat creations began with a beautiful encounter, from Yannick Alleno to Pierre Hermé. The latest led to a collection designed for award-winning producer Pharrell Williams, which was inspired by a 1906 Moynat label featuring a train that was designed by artist Henri Rapin. The collection includes two Train Pochettes available in several color variations, each featuring textiles with railroad graphics and a toy train in Taurillon Gex leather applied using traditional marquetry techniques.

Most of us have a penchant for SLGs, if not all simply because of the affordable price range, abundant choices and versatility SLGs offer. I am no exception to this craze. In fact, I have been on a forever hunt for the perfect card holder that can hold up enough cards with a closure, be it magnetic or buckle or button because I will put coins inside sometimes. I had been using the Goyard Saint Aint Sulpice Card Holder for sometime but the ubiquity of Goyard products on the street had put me off and I finally gifted it to my mother as a  Metro card holder ...

I needed a card holder. I needed a card holder that's versatile in purposes so I can use it creatively and functionally. The card holder would have to be understated with a luxurious touch. A closer would be advantageous because it gives me a sense of security.  Shortly after, my browsing history was full of

Options that I looked through included Hermes Calvi and City 4ccSmythson , Valextra, Louis Vuitton Epi SLG (no secure closer styles available), and some many more fashion houses but any simple card holder designs were merely a piece of leather goods with the brand name printed on it. I am not ignoring the craftsmanship they showed on their SLGs but I need something that's multipurpose, luxurious and understated at the same time, and I think this Moynat Enveloppe Cardholder is the perfect one.

With this being my first Moynat purchase, I have opted for the hot stamping services of my Chinese Name Initials (CWK) to add some personal touch.
